Title Background

Project Costing

More and more initiatives are being broken down into digestible, manageable components. Best Practices have shown that greater results are achieved when initiatives are managed on a project basis.

Within the macs Controlling Suite the module macs Project is a flexible tool tailored at managing any internal projects. It is perfect way to manage a project over the entire lifecycle and measure Actual and Budgeted Costs along the way.

The Project Controlling module assists you to collect, capture and report on the costs for any initiative from as discrete as creating a production order to as large as building a ship.
Various performance measurement metrics are available including plan vs actual, flex reporting etc.

Some examples of the use of the project module include:

Overhead Cost Management Initiatives

Projects aimed at overhead cost control can be implemented, whereby all targeted costs can be collected independently of where they are posted in the cost centre structure.
These can be short term projects (e.g maintenance of a machine) or ongoing (e.g. control over telephone charges across the organization)

Capex Projects

Control over entire capital expenditure cost including transport, consultation fees etc

Research and Development

Total R&D costs can be collected from internal services ( e.g. R&D salaries etc) to external charges (outwork, externally sources parts etc)
This information is not only helpful to control the costs for a product launch, but can be used to allocate a per-unit cost to these products to the profitability management module macs Sales and Profit

Standard Orders

Macs Project  is used to drastically cut the time of building a customer quote for complex orders. The functionality of macs Cost Centre helps also to accurately include all costs ( E.g assigning a cost for medical aid and pensions to the salary cost of a project) Accurate cost estimations lead to a more efficient pricing. Cost can then be monitored over the lifecycle of the order.
